How to Get Your Skin Summer-Ready

The weather may not have quite got the message just yet, but summer is just around the corner! It’s a good time to get your skin ready for those sun-kissed days and warm nights. At The Spa at Bedford Lodge Hotel, we believe in a holistic approach to skincare, combining luxurious treatments with practical, everyday routines.

Here’s my expert advice on how to prepare your skin for summer.

  1. Exfoliate Regularly

Exfoliation is key to achieving radiant summer skin. It helps remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and allows your skin to absorb moisturisers more effectively. It’s especially good to do during the summer months when you will be using more SPF. Use a gentle scrub 2-3 times a week. For a more indulgent experience, you can try the invigorating Salt & Oil Scrub at the spa, to not only exfoliate but also nourish your skin with essential oils and minerals.

  1. Hydrate Inside and Out

Hydration is crucial, especially as temperatures rise. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin plump and glowing. Don’t forget to moisturise daily with a lightweight, hydrating lotion.   1. Sun Protection is a must!

Protecting your skin from harmful UV rays is essential. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 50 (for the face) and SPF 30 (for the body) and apply it generously to all exposed skin. Reapply every two hours, especially if you’re swimming or it’s very hot.

Antioxidants help combat free radicals and protect your skin from environmental damage. I highly recommend incorporating antioxidant-rich serums and creams into your routine. Look for ingredients like vitamin C, E, and green tea.
